Located along the shores of Lake Michigan Holland is known for its world-famous Tulip Time Festival and Dutch heritage. It’s a popular Michigan destination with its beautiful downtown and white sandy beaches. If you’re headed to this city during the summer time here’s 2 must see Holland beaches you won’t want to miss!
Laketown Beach– This quiet little secluded beach is a great escape if you can brave the many steps. While it’s a little rustic; it’s free and less crowded than the rest of the Holland beaches which makes it a gem in my books. You won’t find any lifeguards, public restrooms, changing rooms or concession stands here. There is a porta potty, however.
The stairs are built on top of a dune so you have to walk up them and back down them to get to the beach and back up and down to get to the parking lot again. You might not want to bring totes, chairs, ect. to this beach as it’s hard enough climbing the steps without anything in hand.
On a positive note the serenity and scenery here is amazing. Make sure you bring your camera. There’s plenty of photo ops. One of my favorite Lake Michigan beaches hands down.

Holland Tunnel Park– This beach is a popular one in the area. It gets its name from the tunnel that leads from the park area to the beach. A daily pass to the park runs you $5 if you’re an Ottawa County resident and $7 for non-residents.
There’s plenty of activities for a fun-filled day here at the beach. There’s a dune climb and a nice park for the kids to play at. If you get there early enough you might find an open grill. There’s picnic tables available as well as restrooms and changing areas. The restrooms are nice and seem to be kept up.
The beach is beautiful but it’s also crowded. You won’t have to climb a lot of stairs to go to the beach though unless you do the dune climb and scenic view to get to the beach. Use the tunnel entrance is you want to avoid the stairs and climbing.
