How To Celebrate Christmas On The Road.

How is it possible the holidays are almost here? Christmas is right around the corner and I am not prepared in the least. Eek!

We’ve spent several Christmas’ on the road. Here’s a few ways I’ve learned to make Christmas merry and bright even when you’re miles away from home.

Celebrate Christmas early. If you know you’re going to be away for Christmas how about celebrating early with family and friends? Plan a Christmas dinner before your trip. Go see your family before hand and exchange gifts then.

Video chat with family. Will you be away from your family during the holidays? A great way to connect with them is via video chat. We do this with our daughter who lives out of state and she’s able to see everybody’s faces gathered around the Christmas tree.

Bring gifts with you. You could either celebrate Christmas early and exchange gifts before you leave or just bring your gifts with you. Set up milk and cookies at your rental the night before so Santa can deliver presents. Get the kids involved and write a note letting Santa know where you’ll be staying before you leave.

Go visit lights in your area. Every city has it’s own unique Christmas attractions and activities. Google the cities you’ll be passing through or your final destinations favorite Christmas attractions ahead of time. Maybe it’s as simple as finding the best place in town to see Christmas lights and driving around enjoying the beauty of the decorated houses.

Bring a few decorations with you to spice up your hotel/Airbnb. Ok lets be real. You’re not going to want to pack a huge Christmas tree in your suitcase, however, a mini tabletop Christmas tree makes a great alternative. Make your place festive, merry and bright by plugging in a small package of lights, a tabletop Christmas tree and wrapping some tinsel around the tv. You’d be surprised at how much of a difference this makes.

Make a Christmas playlist. Hands down nothing gets me in the Christmas mood more than Christmas music. Create a playlist on YouTube, Spotify, ect. Add your favorite Christmas music and jam on out while you’re cruising down the road or pop in your headphones on the plane and listen to it on your way to your destination. Turn the music up when you get to where you’re going.

Watch your favorite Christmas movie. If you have internet connection and a capable device where you’ll be staying you can stream your favorite Christmas movie with Netflix, Hulu, or any other streaming services you may have. You could also bring a dvd player and your favorite Christmas movies along with you in your suitcase.

How do you celebrate Christmas on the road? Let me know in the comment section below. I’d love to hear from you!
