How To Stay Positive When You’re Not Feeling It

Have you ever met someone who is always smiling? How does it make you feel when you’re around them? Do you feel happy yourself? It’s hard to be negative around positive people, isn’t it? We naturally are drawn and want to be around somebody who is always happy, smiling and positive no matter what life throws at them. Think about it for a minute. Would you rather hang around someone who is always grumbling and complaining about work or someone who helps you find solutions to problems?

So, what’s their secret? Surely they must have one. Life throws curve balls at everyone. It’s how we handle those problems and our attitude that ultimately determines the end result.

Don’t Let The Little Things Get To You….

Think about the domino effect. One bad thing happens and suddenly all the little things that happen after that can really kill your vibe. Suddenly you’re ready to throw in the towel. Don’t allow the little things to get to you or you’re gonna fall off the deep end before you know it.

Turn On Some Music And Start Dancing….

There’s something magical about music. It really fuels the soul. Music has the power to make you happy or sad. Put some upbeat tunes on, crank up the volume and start dancing. I dance in the kitchen all the time while cleaning! Make a playlist and put your headphones in when you’re feeling down. You’ll start to feel your mood lift in no time!

Give Yourself Something To Look Forward To…

Do you wish that you could go on vacation? Could you use some pampering? Get your nails done, book that hair appointment, secure those plane tickets. Make it happen.

Always Use Positive Words…

Always use encouraging and uplifting words with yourself and others. Refrain from words like, “can’t” and “won’t”. Instead of “I can’t” you could say, “how can we make this happen?”

Be A Light For Others…

Even if you’re having a bad day and you’re feeling down, lift your mood by encouraging those around you. Say something nice to one of your co-workers. Smile at those you meet in passing. Lend a listening ear to a family member or friend.

Don’t Focus On The Negative….

If you focus on the negative it’s really hard to see the positive. Did you wake up this morning with a flat tire? Guess what? You still got a car, don’t you? If you’re too busy focusing on the negative things, you will miss the good in things.

Live In The Moment…

Take one day at a time friends. Take one hour at a time. Take one minute at a time. Live in the moment. Be present.

Smile…

Above all else just smile. It really works.

  1. I love this article! It can definitely be hard to keep positive energy, but being around other people trying their best really lets it sink in.
