School is back in session and that means crazy, hectic schedules are back as well. My weekdays consists of running everyone to and from school and work. Some of my kids have extracurricular activities and I even have a grown “kid” in college that still requires mom stuff.
When Olga’s Kitchen offered me a break from making dinner for the family last week I gladly accepted the offer. No cooking, no cleanup, no dishes, no fuss. Yes, please!
Olga’s Kitchen is a Michigan-based, family-owned restaurant. This was our first time visiting an Olga’s and we were pleasantly surprised at what they had to offer. My mother is part Greek so I grew up loving Greek food.
What makes Olga’s so special?
“Olga’s Kitchen is more than just great tasting, fresh food. It’s a powerful connection to one woman’s passion to share part of her heritage- a simple, yet savory taste that is unforgettable.”
It’s all in the secret recipe bread which Olga herself created by rolling and kneading, baking and balancing until she finally created the “Best Bread on the Planet.” It is, indeed, fantastic!
You’ll want to try the Classic Olga’s Snackers Basket if you visit. This appetizer comes with traditionally seasoned snackers and a side of Swiss Almond Cheese to spread on top of the bread. The spices add a zesty kick and the icing on the cake is the cheese spread. A-mazing.
The Greek Curly Fries with House-made garlic-yoghurt sauce, feta and rosemary were also a huge hit. Everyone picked off my plate. I ended up ordering the Carolina BBQ Olga which was a favorite of our waiter’s. It comes with tangy barbecue-smoked pork, cheddar cheese, a pickle and crispy onion straws.
If you’re not into traditional Greek dishes, don’t worry – Olga’s still has you covered! My boys aren’t a big fan either, so they opted for the Fried Shrimp Platter. I knew it was a huge hit because we didn’t need to box anything up to go. The meal must have made a lasting impression on my son because we just had this conversation recently:
“Hey mom, do you remember when we went to Olga’s?”
“Like 2 days ago? Yes.” I said, laughing.
“That was good.”
